Meet the Trustees
Introducing
Jill Chiddey
Hi my name is Jill Chiddey, Events Coordinator. I am married with 2 grown up children and 3 grandchildren. I am a retired teacher who began my career in 1976 teaching Food Technology in a mainstream comprehensive school in Rotherham. I went on to teach students with special needs in Doncaster where I happily worked until I retired in 2020.
My interests include: crafting (as those who attended our Christmas social will know) shopping (particularly charity shops) socialising (involving numerous café visits) and generally enjoying life in retirement after 45 years of working.
I enjoy my role as a trustee for FODM and have loved meeting all the members in a variety of situations. I hope, with the activities planned for this year, that I will get to meet many more of you.

Trish Huby
My names is Trish Huby and I am the current Secretary of The Friends. I am a retired teacher who in later years taught students with special needs.
I have adult children and four grandchildren.
My interests are languages, history, travelling, crafting, and walking my dog.
Sally Shearman
My name is Sally Shearman and at present I am the Membership Secretary of The Friends of the Doncaster Museums. I recently retired from the Local Authority where I had worked for 40 plus years with children and young people with special needs.
I was chair of Governors of a Doncaster secondary school for over 20 years and at present I am a Governor of a Doncaster Special school.
Chair, Nathan Turnbull
My name is Nathan Turnbull an artist and working handyman.
Although I was born in the south I was educated and grew up in Doncaster.
In the past I've been a graphic artist, IT engineer, and managed an art gallery. My interests are varied but include art, photography, and technology.
I enjoy working with the Friends to support Doncaster's museums, gallery, and archive as it gives me a chance to contribute to the valuable services they offer.
Anthony Choppin
Attended Woodfield Infant and Junior School whilst living in Western Road Council Estate then went to Doncaster Grammar School 1965 to 1970. First job trainee metallurgist British Ropes then attended Newcastle Polytechnic 1975 to 1978 and obtained Honours Degree in Psychology. Met Sarah in Newcastle and married 12/8/1978 producing 4 children and 7 grandchildren.
After Newcastle worked at St Catherine’s Hospital and trained as a RNMH. After second child joined the motor trade as a Business Manager and then as General Manager and finally retiring as the Group Compliance Manager for Stoneacre Motor Group. I am now a Wadworth Parish Councillor.
Sarah Choppin
Born to an RAF family so travelled around and attended many different schools in different countries.
Obtained a Librarianship Degree in Librarianship at Newcastle Polytechnic but was unable to get a job in the profession so joined the Civil Service at Nottingham Land Registry and then transferred to Doncaster Benefit Office on Factory Lane. Left in 1982 and spent the next 15 years bringing up 4 children and then joined the Motor Trade with Tony stating with a drivers job and progressing to Sales Administrator retiring 11 years ago from Stoneacre Doncaster Wheatley Hall Road. We now spend a lot of our time on three large allotments.
