Portrait of William Sheardown
We are currently raising funds to conserve a mid 19th century painting by William Beetham, it is in a poor condition and cannot be displayed.
The sitter in the portrait, William Sheardown (1768 - 1849), was a local business man and publisher of the Doncaster Gazette.

Blind Auction
November - December 2025
Dunhuang to Doncaster
An odyssey of exquisite ancient art from Dunhuang China to Doncaster
The Doncaster Chinese Hakka community brings you an appreciation of ancient Buddhist themed mural art from the Mogao Caves, Dunhuang, an UNESCO World Heritage site in North-West China. An exhibition, on during November at the Danum Art Gallery, will showcase a selection of meticulously reproduced mural art made possible by local artist Olivia Pang.
During the exhibition the Friends of the Doncaster Museums held a blind auction for three compositions, by the gifted artist and graduate from the Chinese National Academy of Art, Olivia Pang. The artwork was on display during the exhibition and the auction concluded at midnight on December 20th.
Winning bidders were notified and have now received their paintings. Thank you to all those that took part and well done to our winning bidders.
The three compositions, framed as shown, are detailed below:

Annual Raffle
Our annual raffle was drawn on Saturday 6th December during our Christmas Social.
The Friends would like to thank everyone that bought a ticket, and the winners are now being informed and prizes given out.
